The Hilotherm HTP1 device provides precision cooling to help reduce pain, swelling and bruising after surgery or injury.

Many traditional cryotherapy solutions rely on ice for cooling, but Hilotherm offers a distinct advantage by eliminating the need for ice altogether.

Unlike ice based treatments, the HTP1 device can be applied continuously for extended periods without causing negative side effects and without requiring any intervention to maintain consistent cooling. There's no need for constant ice replenishment, making it a user-friendly choice for individuals recovering from surgery or injury.

We recommend setting the machine between 15°C and 18°C as research suggests this is the ideal range for minimizing swelling and bruising.

The HTP1 is simple to use and designed to help you recover and return to your active life more quickly.

This option is for patients who will be using Hilotherm in hospital. You will then be allowed to take the cuff (e.g lower face mask, knee cuff) home with you to use with your machine.

  • The machine circulates temperature-controlled water through a cuff, effectively reducing pain, swelling, and bruising.

    Unlike ice-based treatments, the regulated temperature allows for continuous use as needed. Many post-operative patients use it almost continuously during their first few days at home.

  • The average rental for jaw surgery, dental procedures or cosmetic surgery is 1-2 weeks. The average rental for knee patients is 2-4 weeks. Recovery times differ from patient to patient so you can always extend on a week by week basis.

    Additional weeks rental are charged at £45 per week or £80 for a 2 week extension.

  • Hilotherm is used in many hospitals nationwide. If you are using Hilotherm whilst you recover in hospital you will be able to take your cuff home with you to use with our machine.

    If you are unsure whether you will be using Hilotherm in hospital you can always call us in the office and we should be able to advise you. If in any doubt you should add a cuff to your order. If you send it back unopened we can refund you for it.

  • All our deliveries are booked with DPD on a morning delivery. Someone will need to be in to receive the delivery on the selected delivery day.

    We will contact you by email a few days before your rental finishes to confirm whether you would like us to collect the device or extend the rental. We will then book the collection from your chosen address with DPD. We can usually choose either a morning or afternoon slot for the collection.

  • I have been coordinating a controlled trial using Hilotherapy with 61 total knee replacement patients at the RJAH Oswestry. The preliminary results have shown a reduction in patient length of stay from 4.52 days in the control group to 4.35 days in the Hilotherm group. There was also a reduction in the need for rescue doses of Oxynorm from 82% in the control group to 42% in the Hilotherm group. Patients have found the treatment improved their comfort level and the Physio team have found the treatment easy to administer with patients.
